In a context of growth and supply chain optimization, our client is looking to hire a Supply Chain Director to play a strategic role at the heart of operations. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this person will be responsible for defining and steering the overall procurement strategy covering all plants (in Greater Montreal) and functions of the organization.
Job specification
This key role includes overseeing the procurement of strategic raw materials, equipment, and services, as well as managing relationships with partners and suppliers. As a member of the management team, the incumbent will actively contribute to structural decision-making, strategic planning, and cross-functional alignment between operations, logistics, finance, and sales. Their primary mandate is to secure critical supplies, optimize costs, and reduce risks in a complex, multi-site manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement the global procurement strategy for all sites.
- Oversee the entire purchasing cycle: research, calls for tenders, negotiation, contracting, and performance monitoring.
- Monitor market developments and adjust strategies according to trends and economic conditions.
- Consolidate purchases to maximize economies of scale and harmonize practices across the organization.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers and strategic partners.
- Work closely with operations, logistics, planning, and sales to ensure consistency of priorities.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to costs, quality, delivery, and service.
- Supervise and motivate the procurement team by promoting its development and efficiency.
- Actively participate in process improvement and the implementation of structuring tools.
- Contribute to strategic digital transformation projects.
Required profile
The ideal candidate has a university degree in operations management, logistics, administration, engineering, or a related field. They have more than ten years of experience in strategic procurement, including at least five in a management role. Significant experience in purchasing raw materials, equipment, and services in a multi-site manufacturing environment is essential.
Recognized for their motivational leadership, strategic vision, and business acumen, they have a strong grasp of procurement principles, contract negotiation, and performance analysis. Their rigorous approach, adaptability, and influential communication skills enable them to navigate confidently in a changing environment. Bilingualism (advanced French and functional English) is required.
