Our client, a well-established manufacturing company in Quebec for several decades, is recognized for its expertise and innovative approach to the design, manufacture and distribution of custom metal solutions. As part of its growth and the evolution of its organizational culture, the company wishes to add an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Advisor to strengthen its human resources team and optimize the implementation of sustainable OHS practices adapted to its multi-site activities.
Job specification
Reporting to the Hygiene, Environment and Health & Safety Supervisor, the incumbent will play a key role in prevention and the implementation of OHS best practices across production sites. As an expert and agent of change, he or she will help promote a safe working environment, build constructive and lasting awareness of best practices among teams, and support managers in their prevention and compliance responsibilities.
Main responsibilities
- Act as an expert resource for managers and teams on OHS issues.
- Coordinate and lead OHS committees, follow up on recommendations and contribute to the implementation of corrective actions.
- Participate in the development and implementation of prevention, incident management and training programs, procedures and tools.
- Conduct incident investigations, analyze causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and monitor OHS legislation, standards and best practices.
- Support the management of personal protective equipment (PPE) and related programs (ergonomics, contamination prevention, respiratory protection, etc.).
- Participate in ergonomic assessments, recommend adjustments and raise awareness of best practices.
- Compile and analyze OHS data, contribute to the creation of performance indicators and ensure accountability.
- Promote OHS culture through training, awareness-raising activities and targeted communications.
Required profile
The ideal candidate will have university or college training in occupational health and safety, combined with a minimum of five years' experience in OHS in a manufacturing, industrial or construction context. Recognized for his or her influential leadership and collaborative approach, he or she demonstrates excellent adaptability, a keen sense of priorities and exemplary rigor. Analytical and problem-solving, the ideal candidate also has a strong sense of customer service and the ability to coach and mobilize teams.
Mastery of OHS standards (LSST, LATMP), solid communication skills and the ability to popularize technical issues are also expected.
Flexible working hours and geographical mobility (sites located in the Greater Montreal area) are required. Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
